Throughout her Freshman year in Frank McCourt High School, Zana Gilaj achieved many things academically. She learned a lot of new things during Freshman, Sophomore, and Senior year that she didn't know before and she achieved a lot of things academically. Zana showed the most improvement in her junior year. She is a very hard working student and exceeds all limitations to get her work done. She joined some extra curricular classes, for example for a little bit she was a member of "The Newspaper Club" in her freshman year. When she knows that she's struggling in a subject, she would stay after school for help until she understands. She used to struggle a lot in science when she was in Elementary school and Middle School but no longer struggles as much. Zana has definitely grown as a person overall because she has become more outspoken than she was before. Zana collaborates with her peers very well and knows when the appropriate time is to talk.

Zana overall as a student likes to be involved with the school and always helps the community. She became an ambassador in her school in the beginning of her freshman year and she still remains  an ambassador. Ambassadors at Frank McCourt are responsible for touring students and parents from other middle schools and inform them on what Frank McCourt is about.  She also joined a newspaper club for a bit. Towards the end of her sophomore year, she joined tutoring which was to help other students. For a few weeks, every tuesday after school she would sit with her peers and help them on anything they needed help with. She just loves helping people out, it’s like the best feeling for her. Zana is also interested on doing sports and joining teams. She would have joined volleyball in Freshman year if she were to do things differently.

Before Zana came to Frank McCourt, she was very independent and shy about sharing her opinion on things. She always struggled with presentations because of how nervous they would make her but that is something that Zana improved on. During her senior year, she realized that she had to overcome her fear of presenting in front of peers and she gradually has improved on her communication skills.
